Dan, the older we get the more frequently we bury close friends and relatives.  My mom was the latest, about two weeks ago.  She passed quietly in her sleep at age 98.  As all have said, they are off to a better place and go with our prayers.

I got back about 4 hours ago from Coeur D Alene Idaho, and after cleanin up I went to see Roger. He is at the door. I stayed and talked to his wife and son for about 2 1/2 hours in his room. He would occasionally wake up and listen. When I was ready to leave he tried to talk but couldn't and motioned for water. When he got his mouth wet, all he could say was: "See ya around". I told him, that I expected he would, told him I loved him and left.
His eyes are taking a set if some of you know what I mean, and the reaper is at the door I think. No pain, and that is good. I think it will not be long, thanks to a Merciful God.
I will miss him for sure. He is blunt, and to the point like myself, and we never tried to second guess each other. We always say what we mean, and we never misunderstood each other. It is truly rare to find men like him. His word had the bark on it.

Day before yesterday my buddy Roger went home. He was buried in the National Cemetary today in Dallas Texas with full military honors, and was escorted by the Dallas Fire Dept. where he was a Captian for 35 years. Tomorrow I will do a song at his memorial I wrote that was inspired by my last visit with him, and his faith in God. Thanks for the prayers for his family gents.

Funny you should say that spikehorn. I visited him 2 days before he passed, and he could no longer talk. When I got ready to leave he tried to say something to me. After his wife had given him several tea spoons of water, I bent over his bed, and he said: "See ya around". I told him indeed he would.

Dan your freinds pain is gone and he is waiting for you in a better place. Death is easy for those who know where they are going on this journey.

Today was his memorial, and my music went well. It was a relief to get it over with (the music). With just yourself and a guitar, there is no one to cover your mistakes if you make them, and I knew very few folks there. I guess another leaf has fallen in this season of life.

DEE. The last several funerals I've attended the music was one or 2 singers and a guitar. I've found that to be much more touching and personal. I'm sure your friend would have been proud of you. At  Tanks funeral A dear friend played her guitar and sang Amazing grace, Tanks favorite song, by his favorite Gospel singer. CHARLIE.  :( :(

This was the families request also. The widow specifically asked that it be just myself and the guitar. All the Dallas firemen that were there came by and introduced themselves to me telling me they enjoyed the song, so I guess it went off well, and the family was pleased.

Dee , Your friends passing I'm sure was bittersweet, a loss, I know, but his pain and suffering is over and he has gone home.  He was rich in friendship and I'm sure the song was well received.
