custom grip question

Hello all,

David got me thinking about the custom grip and knife matching so does anyone know of a custom stock maker that works with micarta?  I have a hand full of bark river knives all in green canvas micarta that might make a good looking grip and forearm!

I am not familiar with micarta, can you desribe what it is and what would you compare it to?

Tony, Micarta is a plastic material that can be worked with wood working tools & equipment.  It's probably better described as machinable plastic. I've had our company die makers use it in the past for use in tooling. Machines well I may have a small block in the garage that I might be able to find and send to you to look at. I also have been wanting a set made out of it in Ivory color for one of my Contenders/Encores

If you have a scrap piece I would take a look at it to check it out, but I would not get my hopes up. The only material similar to this that I have worked with had a horrible smell when I started cutting and sanding.
