I just bought a Huntsman Model 156 58 caliber muzzle loader. It is still in the orginal box and looks almost new. CAN SOMEONE tell me when it was made. The serial number starts with AL

Congrats on the find. Does it say Model 156 on the frame ? Or is that what is on the box? I was not aware that they(Huntsman) had a Model # designation. Both my 58's just say Huntsman on the frame . But that means I got 2 Model156 58 Huntsman's a Model 157 22 Hornet and a Model 158 22 Magnum Remington Jet. I wonder if the 12ga and the 45 are Model 156? Just more fun facts for referance.

Not only fun facts but also confusion yours is a Model 156 with AL= 1973. Mine are AJ=1971 and AL=1973. My Model 157 is a BB=1986 and the  Model 158 Jet is a Z=1963 seems Model designation #'s have little to do with yr of manufacture?? Kurt

It says Huntsman Model 156 on the box but only has Huntsman on the reciever....
