Scope on a Smith 22A
« on: July 21, 2010, 06:10:28 AM »
I was thinking about getting a 7" barrel for my 22A and mounting a 2X6 handgun scope on  it .I was looking for "minute of squirrel haed" at 25 yards . Have any of you guys tried this and what are your thoughts? My current 4" barrel is very accurate .

I just did the same thing with my 22A. Ended up with a Simmons 2x6, and so far it's great. The main draw for me was that my gun shop had it and i can fix some of the parallax with the magnification adjustment. I looked at some straight power scopes, and the reticle wiggled all over the place at 25yds. My account for this was that most handgun scopes are for revolvers and hunting. I think most scope manufacturers set the parallax at 100yds. (Anyone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.)

It's fun and much more accurate now. At 25yds i can easily shoot 1" groups. Hope this helps.
