In my troop I am known as the assistant "fun" master. And the king of PVC and duck tape.
We just came home from winter camp this morning and I'm still smileing.
Plan A was to use 3/4 PVC and a few T's, elbows and a bunch of 22 1/2 degree elbows along with some leuwan (thin ply wood) and poprivits to make tabogans. Unfortunately, We have no snow.
Plan B. 1/2 in. PVC cut to 48 in. A hole drilled 3/4 in from top and bottom then a slot filed to the hole. Black foam pipe insulation taped for a handle and a plastic wire clamp for a arrow rest. A little duck tape to hold everything in place. The pipe was then strung with 56 inches of 1/8 nylon string and wa la!!!
You have a Bow!!!!!
It was really amazing how well these things shot! The leaders made some a little longer and had as much fun as the kids.
For a Scout troop or just a fun cheap little project with the kids, This one is a winner. There are a few things you can do to make these bows faster but why, At 15-20 yards, these are just plain fun.
If you are interested in this and need a little more detail P.M. me. I like to share ideas.
