Huntsman 12 Gauge
« on: July 08, 2010, 03:39:16 PM »
I just picked up a new to me H&R Huntsman 12 Ga. Its an AJ 29XXXX, 1972 according to the FAQs. I have a .50 barrel from Ebay that is going to fit the frame with a little work.  ;D
The breech plug has two pin holes, does that mean it unscrews, or is it a push on? Thanks

The two holes mean it is a screw in. I would like to find one myself. Have fun with it.

I just got one from a board member a couple months ago.  I was so surprised at range.  It's so light and the open choke allows you to hit about anything.  I just used a quarter inch cardboard wad over the powder and hand cut over shot cards from old ammo boxes.  It's easy to load, I got curious and measured the bore and it's a skeet choke or IC 2 some sources list it as.  I only used an ounce of shot volume with the same volume triple seven and it had little recoil.  I am going to to try it for the early small game season with dense cover and see how it does.  It completed my collection of the 70's Huntsmans for the single frame I have.  Enjoy!
