Thor and MDM

Does anyone have shooting experince with THOR bullets? They look pretty sweet.......a little spendy, but sweet.

Does anyone have any shooting experience shooting MDM muzzlelaoders? I know they are similar to Huntsman and thats why I am asking. I am looking around to see if I can find a deal on a new/used .45 (as soon as I get some money :) if they are decent guns.

The Thor bullets are getting good reviews from those that have tried them. I have not yet but am definately interested. The MDM rifles are a little spendy but I have seen them and handled a few but never shot any. They appear to be a quality rifle. The company is a little fly by night but the rifles are nice looking.

I may wait a little longer and see what happens with the THOR bullets.....If they are like the barnes bullets I bet they are devistatingly sweet. I have never handled an MDM, but its hard to find an American made inline .45 anymore. I have a cva kodiak .45 that I just have never been satisfied with, so thats why I am looking around. I cant just decide if I want to sell, trade, or keep it.

I dont even know why I am so hell bent on a .45 anymore. Really, with my huntsman I have the ultimate muzzleloader.........I guess I just like to tinker around with other models......

Thanks for the info and if I decide to try out those THOR bullets I will post the outcome for sure.

Looks a lot like a Huntsman. A whole lot.... in fact the review I found says it is based on the H&R action. I wonder if one of the carrierless breech plugs from an MDM fits a Huntsman? MDM is the company that had a plant explosion a while back, don't know if it effected availablity.

I doubt that the barrels are the same so the breechplug would likely not fit. There is a carrierless one available for the huntsman or sidekick if you search correctly for the information.

Yes this is true about the breech plug and barrel not being the same as a huntsman. I finally found a MDM muzzleloader (.50) and looked at it. The barrel and breech plug are like what Rossi muzzleloaders use.......much smaller, almost like the breech plug in my CVA Kodiak.

And if anyone can enlighten me here: The huntsman has the biggest #&%^$# breech plug I've ever seen for a muzzleloader! Does anyone know if theres a bigger one out there?

The carrier less breech plug is the the absolute best! I bought 2 of them. Excellent quailty and quick shipping. That is the best upgrade Ive ever made to my huntsman and I made alot of'em. I dont know why they didnt make those like that from the factory? Oh well...........That plug with BH 209 has made my huntsman even more dependable and even more accurate.........and thats saying something for a huntsman.

I think MDM is the company that had a fire/explosion a couple of months ago.  Plant located in New England I believe.  I think there are threads on this forum and also I think on "Round the Old Potbelly Stove" forum that have info on the fire.  I would try and search for them but me and the GBO search feature don't see eye to eye for some reason. :P

Black Mag Powder's plant is where the explosion killed two employees, they're a subsidiary of MDM.
