Do you like Rick Perry? Why or why not.
« on: July 08, 2010, 02:11:28 PM »
I like him, but not passionately.  I believe that he is cut from the same NWO cloth that so many in power now come from.  My choice, however, is a trial lawyer/Obama supporter.

I think ole Rick will say what ever he needs to say at the time, so NO, I don't particularly care for him. Kay Bailey on the other hand would have been worse, and has proved it in D.C., that is if you could get worse. I think GW was a decent Governor but a bad president in that he escalated a war that didn't need to have ever been started in the first place.
There just ain't much to choose from.

Wouldn't it be nice, if during an election, there was actually a candidate that folks could feel good about voting for without having to settle for the lessor of just so many evils? I don't know if my heart could stand the shock!  ::) We live in a time where money buys your way into an office rather than your record of worthwhile deeds. A good thing I guess......for polititions, because if we voted them in because of their keeping campaign promises, and records of doing good for both us and our Country, then very very few would ever make it into office of any kind!

The alternative to Gov Perry is Bill White.  Generally regarded as an honest man, but an honest, Obama supporting liberal.  Gov Perry will show me what he is made of during the next legislative session (White has no chance unless Perry pulls a Clayton Williams, ask a Texan)(Texas has one 6 month session every two years, the way government aught to be), when he'll be faced with doing the right thing and slashing all of these freaking entitlements.

Well no offense sharke, but if Bill White is a "trial lawyer" he damn sure ain't an honest man, and the folks that regard him as honest, are either retarded, or are lawyers themselves. I would prefer that if he runs for Governor against Perry that it will be a fight to the death, and end in a tie. ;) ;D
The last thing the State of Texas needs in the Governor's Mansion, or anywhere else for that matter, is another damn lawyer.

Dee, I guess what I am saying is that I surely don't want ant liberal as Governor of this State.  Bill White would be disasterous.  I do think that he has convictions, just the wrong ones.

I've had interactions with him on a specific policy issue, and he's straight up in his dealings, believing that Government is the solution to most everything.

Perry does support a balanced budget, lower taxes, less government infuence from the Federal level, but there it that TT Corridor.

The Corridor is a definite crack in Perry's armor, and I am just waiting to see what's next. Perhaps that fight to the death between the two of them might be suggested. Why are YOU up so early? I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. Do you have an excuse?

Lots of paperwork.  I think better in the morning.

Perry is going to be my Governor, and I think that he'll be accompanied by enough conservatives to shift this State toward one of the most business friendly environments in North America.  With low business taxes, no State income tax, an a huge labor pool of skilled workers and engineers, I like our chances.  Texas is now home to more Fortune 500 companies than any other State, and that trend seems to be continuing.

All this with a Governor who in many ways is as open border as any politician, and who is likely pretty moderate on most issues when he sings in the shower.

I long for Governor Reagan.  Maybe from the ashes of the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia a Phoenix will arise.  There couldn't be a more beautiful State to reside, and even the most ardent communist from the left coast cannot deny the hazard of monetarism.  Hitting a lump of coal at rock bottom with enough pressure might produce a diamond.  We can only pray.
