Mod 700 VL SF?????

I just picked up this Varmint Rifle used.  Can anyone help me identify it?  I was told it was a special order for one of the distributors.  I looked  on the Remington website and it is not a catalog item in this configuration. It is a Mod 700 stailness with a stainless fluted barrel in .223 rem. The barrel flutes are powder coated I think. It sports a green laminated thumbhole stock. As near as I can tell it is a Remington stock. it says Remington on the butt pad.

Looking at the Remington web catalog it looks like it may be a Model 700 VS SF II barreled action on a Model 700 VL SS Thumbhole stock?

Thanks a lot!!! I wonder why I couldn't find that! ???

I have not shot it yet but I am really looking forward to doing so!! I'll post some groups.

Anybody else have one of these? Pet loads?

 I know its a little late.  I had a xr100 with the laminated th and a 1 in 12 twist.  It really liked 40 gr hornady vmax bullets.  I dont hand load,  I just bought hornady ammo. Good luck and sweet rifle.

Never too late! Thanks for the info. I just bought 200 Hornady 50 gr V-max to load & try so we will see. I just shot some groups with some off the shelf inexpensive Rem-UMC factory loads with the 50gr jhp bullet & shot 1/2 & 3/4 inch groups at 100 yrds. I'll bet I can tighten that up with some good handloads & a little practice. ;D

The XR100 looks like my rifle but has the single shot action as a xp100 right? ???

your right it has a single shot action.  Those groups sound like the ones i was getting.  curious to see how the 50gr vmax work.  I always wanted to try them and never got around to it. wish i still had that rifle.
