We studied communism in high school. Part of requirement to graduate. The course covered, economics, citizenship, and the threat of communism. Lenin stated that this was the plan to destroy capitalists countries. Here are the major points:
1) Get kids interested in alcohol, sex, and drugs.
2) Take over the education system and downplay capitalism and promote socialism, alternative lifestyles.
3) Take over the news media and begin slanted bias against capitalism, God, nationalism, and slant towards socialism, government control or intervention to fix things.
4) Take over liberal churches and make them promote socialism, liberalism, alternative lifestyles.
5) Finally the society will be ripe for a socialist government to restore order, and ultimately a utopia (from each according to his ability, to each according to his need).
Only problem is human nature, which according to God is sinful. If I work hard, I want to keep what I worked for. If I see my co-worker being lazy and not working hard, he shouldn't make what I make or deserve the same as me. Should a janitor be paid the same as a scientist or engineer? Who is more valuable to society. Or a doctor the same as a garbage collector? Don't work, the Soviet Union found this out.
Capitalism encourages thought, inovation, invention, rewards hard work. However it can get out of hand, and that is why there are rules in our economy to avoid this. It is more efficient and produces more.
Socialism doesn't produce as much and stagnates economy. England once had a powerful country and competed with Germany for European and global domination. After WWII England adapted Socialism. Germany is more capitalist today and produces much more than England. Japan adapeted capitalism as well as South Korea, look at them today. India adapted socialism after WWII and was a backwards starving country until in the 90's they adapted capitalism. Now they have a growing middle class, have launched satelites, and are building a highway system. Even look at China. Socialism under Mao stagnated their country. Today they have adapted capitalism and are becoming a superpower.
However capitalism with only a one party rule, can lead to a dictatorship, like Hitler's Germany. Countries that have socialism like middle eastern countries, sub-Sahara African countries and South American countries have stagnated their economies. Japan has no natural resources but developed a capitalist economy. It only stagnated with government interference in the banking system, and socialist spending trying to pump up the economy. Look at our economy, it is stagnant even after spending trillions of dollars trying to pump it up with government programs. The government doesn't produce anything. Capitalism produces.
Government can't solve social problems, never has, never will. It will either lead to war or suppression of people. Government can run a military, go to the moon, build dams, railroads, bridges, highways, canals, etc. But government can't make people less racist, live right, educate themselves, learn trades, or buy medical insurance.
