Rechambering
« on: July 18, 2010, 12:55:09 PM »
                               :o
                                              ???
How hard / expensive would it be to rechamber a [single shot] 308Win Remington [Baikal] SPR18 to 30-06 ?     :-*

It seems that there is more reloading data and more flexibility.     :)
Also, I can find the "Managed Recoil" Remington ammo in 30-06, but not in 308.      ;D

I am a decrepit old physical wreck ...   :(                :'(
... with horrible arthritis, torn rotator cuffs, dangling tendons, and "exploding" retinas.       :o       ???

                                                                      ::)

I think you will discover that a 30-06 chamber will not clean up a .308 chamber without setting the barrel back which you cannot do on your single shot.  The body of the 30-06 cartridge is about .010 smaller at the point of the .308 sholder, so the 30-06 reamer will not work out.  Larry

30-06 Improved should work.

Dog Gone it !       :o

I had a bad feeling that this would not be a simple / easy option.   ::)

Looks like I need to just keep looking for low recoil loads for 308win.       :(

Also, ...
I need to start saving up for a Ruger #1 in 30-06, 270Win, 25-06, or 243Win, or ? ? ?             ;)

Thanks,               :)

Found my dream gun ... a black laminated stocked stainless steel Ruger #1 [the K1B].  :-*  :-*  :-*

Unfortunately, it is available only in 270 Win and 300 Win mag.  :-\

Would it be feasible to rechamber that [single shot] 308Win Remington International [Baikal] SPR18 to 300 H&H ?
