Stock Bolt
« on: July 16, 2010, 07:02:11 PM »
Alright I need some help.  My oldest son turns 9 this Saturday.  He's getting a custom .357 max for his birthday.  While I've had this thing apart for the stock painting, barrel, fluting, duracoating etc., I lost the stock bolt.  I need one ASAP.  Please let me know if any of you guys have one your willing to part with and what you want for it.  Thanks in advance.  Jason

try your local hardware store, I picked up two of them today for $1.14 each, it's just a standard 3/8X24X4 inch bolt :)

All stock bolt sizes are in the FAQs, all stocks don't take the same bolt length, the new style take a longer 5" bolt, same as the Survivor, thumbholes take a 2" bolt, all are 3/8"-24 thread tho, as Nova stated, your local hardware store has cap screws the will work fine. ;)

Thanks alot for the tip.  I'll check it out tomorrow.  As soon as I get a new charging cord for the camera I'll get some pics up of my two newly completed handi projects.  A shorty, fluted max for my boy and another shorty, scout scoped .500 for his pops  ;).

The kids' new lab pup chewed the camera charging cord to pieces and its dead as a hammer.  I found one one ebay but its coming from hong kong so it may take a few days.  They both have 16 1/2" barrels and are finished with parker gray duracoat...the max has 6 flutes in it.  My old man said that cutting the 2+" off (it was a TALO) and cutting the flutes took 1lb 14oz off the barrel alone.  It sports a youth synthetic coated with brownells spray grit, ded nutz scope base, and a 2-7 leupold rifleman.  The .500 has a pw stock that I did quite a bit of whttling on and is also coated with spray grit....a custom, tapered weaver type scout base, warne maxima rings, and 2.5X leupold m8 with about 10" of eye relief top it off.  Oh and it also has a barrel band sling stud riding the end of the tube too.
