Stolen howitzer recovered
« on: July 27, 2010, 07:53:22 PM »
An article about a stolen Civil War Cadet cannon (Model of 1841 12-pounder field howitzer) that was recovered by Spalding County Deputies in Georgia.
This bronze howitzer was manufactured by Cyrus Alger & Co. along with two Cadet 6-pounder guns for the ‘Arkansas Military Institute’ in 1851.
There is now a controversy brewing over the question of legal ownership rights to the howitzer.
The photos show, and the article states that this cannon has led a rough life; I hope it finally finds a peaceful resting place. http://www.ajc.com/news/authorities-mystified-by-stolen-365709.html

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
