bluegill baits

what do you guys use to catch bluegill? I ussually stick with the old school worm but sometimes I will put corn on my hook I try to stay away from bread falls off to easily. anyone use soft plastics?

Caught a few on minnows crappie fishing this spring.

I went today and caught most on worms the corn I used sucked all I got was a few nibbles but I caught a bunch on worms

As a kid we would hunt wasp nest to get the larva from. Made great bluegill bait. Also made for interesting times convincing the wasps we needed their nests more than they did! ::)

The white "Mister Twisters" have been working well in my neighbors pond - he has some 10-12" bluegills that the kids love to catch!

Weed worms work well also. 6 inches to a foot off the ground of rag weed, golden rod stalks there will be a knot in the stalk. cut the stalk off and split it open. A good bait. The stalk has to be green before it blooms. Didnt find them in the giant ragweed much at all. before  the stalk is brown, the worm bores out and leaves. This is the time we started looking for them each year. late july august fishing.
