Mink box set
« on: November 25, 2003, 08:24:32 AM »
:D Hi:

Mink season opened today and I got a question concerning mink boxes.

Does anyone know of a way that a conibear can be set up in a mink box so that when it fires, I could check it from a distance? I was thinking of something along the lines of an ice fishing tip up where a flag or piece of orange tape would stand up when the trap caught something. So that it could be seen without having to walk right up to or near the trap.

                                                                          Thanks,

Unless you are trapping private land with no chance of theft, I wouldn't use flagging as all you are asking for is a stolen trap and box.   You should be able to see whether you have a catch w/o having to go right to the box.  I can check mine from 25-50 feet away depending on terrain.
