speer load data needed
« on: July 24, 2010, 03:31:52 PM »
I have a early speer reloading manual from the early 70's and it seems not to have a listing for 105 speer SP in 243 cal. using IMR 4064
any one have a newer edition that may have a powder charge using IMR 4064 and the 105 Gr. speer Hot Core bullet

I went with 36.5 to day shot excellent funny thing I tried them with IMR 4350 and no matter what charge I used they seem to tumble or Keyhole on paper.
I tried them the other day just to get the new scope on paper and to my surprise using IMR 4064 they did not KeyHole WHY I don't know any one would like to add to the subject?

That bullet should not tumble or keyhole in the .243 unless you have a slow twist barrel. What is the twist?

Who knows why a Handi-rifle does what it does.  I had (past tense) a new Handi chambered in 22/250Rem that  shot a 50 grain Rem powr-lokt bullet and 35.6 grains of H-4895 real well and without any pressure issue at all and the next time I shot this load, which was a cooler day, it locked up tighter than a jar of pickles.  I started over with load developement and the d&^% thing would get sticky with loads at starting weights.  I got rid of that thing and never looked back.
