« on: July 20, 2010, 03:27:43 PM »
i picked up this old single shot and hope someone here knows more about it than me....single shot 12 ga w/coat of arms type stamp on reciever that says ERA....bottom of reciever flat says "Made in Brazil"....top rear of reciever has kind of a "rolling block look".....barrel release is done by hooking the trigger finger over the front of the triggerguard( where it is checkered) and pulling the whole triggerguard to the rear.......some type of rebounding hammer,no transfer bar....barrel is stamped 12 ga  2 3/4" Chamber on the left and "Made in Brazil for FIE Miami Fla USA" on the right...wide bottom snap on forend with finger grooves on top....reciever tang inletted into stock...thin-wristed stock, wood looks like walnut....28" barrel, no choke designation. Whew?  :P

I owned a .410 back in the 70's that looked similar.  It was imported by F.I.E. (Firearms Import Export if I remember correctly) and I think I bought it at K-Mart.  I really don't remember very much about it as I only had it for a short time and didn't shoot it much.  I do remember the barrel looked like it had been "polished" with 40 grit sandpaper before bluing!

F.I.E. imported a lot of "price point" longguns and handguns back in that era.  I think most (or maybe all) were made in Brazil, and quite possibly by several different manufacturers.

My memory is kind of vague, but I seem to recall hearing a lot of these types of shotguns were made by a company called Boito???

I believe it's a Boito single shot.

I bought a Boito 410 single shot with a sliding trigger gaurd breech lock, and shell extractor from Western Auto for $28 in 1971.
Looked just like that.  I remember it having Boito on it, but I also recall the FIE part being on it somewhere.

all right.....some replys. Wasn't too sure i'd get any. Bottom line is this gun came to me free. The buttstock has some cracks i don't like, but it goes bang. Looks like it may become a 12 ga "shorty" house gun or something. I don't think i've ever seen a shotgun that didn't have some kind of "choke designation" stamped on it.

Did you check the barrell when it's off the reciever for choke markings. Or you could measure the choke.. ;)

That shotgun was in production until 2009, Boito dropped it last year. I bought one, the were sold as a Boito Reuna SB, came with a 28" Full Choke barrel with a tapered forcing cone. It did the job well enough, sold it when I got a damn good deal on a H&R Pardner with a modified choke. Had no issues with the gun.
