if he had  been a hunter i would say yes but i beleive a farmer has a right do defend his cattle in tn you can kill bear for killing your cattle

killing and being close are way different things. He may have a huge problem.

its the fact that it posses danger to his property or cattle or has been killing his cattle he could be in trouble but i dont live their or know the laws their either

Depends on the state. Had a friend kill a hawk that was killing chickens in Alabama and the Judge told him he would just have to raise enough for him and the hawk.

Missouri laws allow you to protect your livestock with deadly force. I have not found the entire story yet so I don't know if he can prove harm to his cattle.
