My Beretta Stampead
« on: January 23, 2011, 07:51:55 AM »
  I have one in .45LC and 5 1/2" barrel. The action locks tightly. The barrel-cylinder gap is small about .004. The trigger is light & crisp about 2 1/2 lbs.. The finish and case colors are nice. The gun shoots very accurate and to point of aim. The gun feels very solid. The only problems that I have noticed is blue wear on the backstrap which actually gives it an antiqued look and needed to green locktite the grip fram screws to prevent loosening.
  Did I get lucky or do other members with a Beretta have positive impressions of theirs. I am using a 260 gr. bullet at 900 fps and it is fun to shoot.

Did you get lucky? Not in my opinion! I have had and been shooting a stampede in 45 Colt 5 1/2", for a little over 3 years now. It was given to me by my Wife. Had she not got this for me I would never have gave it a 2nd glance, but, am I glad she did. Its actually quite nice to handle a new 6 gun that "doesn't" need a trigger job out of the box, a la, Ruger. Or doesn't need the rough action tuned up out of the box, a la, Colt 3rd generation, a "CUSTOM" shop gun, what ever that means :-\. Although mine did not print to POA right out of the box, 5" left, with 250 gr Kieth's, 850 fps, (LBT mold) it was just a simple matter of a minute twist of the barrel, which I am set up to do. Unlike my Ruger Bisley Vaquero which was 8" left and 6" low  :o. Putting loctite on screws is not just a Beretta thing, Rugers benefit from it too. Also, you may want to put a drop of loctite on the ejector housing screw, wink, wink.
   While a criticism has been levied against the color case coloring, flaking etc. I have not had that happen, and believe me this gun gets a lot of shooting and holster wear. Blue wear on the back strap is prevalent on my Rugers too. All in all this is a fine revolver, I hope you enjoy yours as much as i do mine. CRASH87

Sounds good. Your experiences are similar . The first time that I shot mine the screws loosened so much that the frame and grip frame were loose & rattling. I stopped as the gun felt like to might split into two pieces.  Tightening them with a bit of green wicking Locktite solved  that problem.

If I am not mistaken (and I maybe) but I think Beretta bought Uberti (or a part of it I am not sure)

Yes you are correct, mattbowen, The Beretta's are Uberti's. I really have never examined a Uberti that was not a Beretta, so I don't know how they compare. But I do like mine.   ;D CRASH87

I like the Uberti, I haven't seen the Beretta's as yet but the Uberti handles real well and I do like the old style mechanics. I have a Ruger Vaquero that the wife bought me several years ago and it has the transfer bar but the Uberti's don't (and I like that)

The Beretta/Uberti does have a transfer bar.

crash87;

I know, that is why I am looking at EMF's Great Western II revolvers. I have a Ruger Vaquero in .357 and I only load five rounds in it just as you would an old peace maker. I just love the older firearms.

Yea, I hear you. While I do own a few New model Blackhawks along with the Beretta, I also have a Colt SAA in 45 and a 3 screw blackhawk in 357. Just gotta love all those clicks  ;D CRASH87
