Marlin Glenfield model 25
« on: July 25, 2010, 02:20:36 PM »
Got my ol' friend out of the safe and back to the range with the help of a new scope. Shoots great but the trigger is pretty hard. Wondering if any one has any info on how to lighten it up some.

Got 2 of them and both shoot great. The first one I bought years ago has a 4 pound trigger pull. The second one was heavier. I was told by an old gun smith to use 600 grit metal polishing compound and a cloth buffing wheel put in a drill. Coat the buffing wheel and polish the trigger and sear at the mating points.  "DONT" be to agressive. Polish for a few seconds and check for the fit. 600 grit is very fine but it will remove alot of metal if you aren't careful.

Probably the best thing to do with this rifle is box it up and sell it to me. ;D  I have been looking for another one.

 Thanks for the info.

I had one of these for my first gun as well. I think I got it at christmas when I was 13.Foolishly I traded it on a 10/22 that I still have. I think they gave me $50 for it ( I think the glenfield was only $60 when new). I would gladly give double that to get the same gun back today.

I know what you guys are saying. I got the first one from my older brother when I was about 9. I bought it for 18 dollars (all I had and he needed money for a hot date). I have shot a truck load of bullets through it. Killed plenty of squirrels, rabbits and all sorts of other critters. I hope to find another one in good shape for my grand boys.
