i'll second southern utah's recommendation. i have a burris dual dovetail base, and burris signature rings on my 15" 7-08 encore. they are good looking, hold the scope great, and the inserts prevent leaving ring marks on a good scope.
i've only shot a 2-3 boxes of factory loads, and havn't taken any game with them(used my handloads last season). they were 120gr rem hp's(green yellow box). they shoot fair out of mine. last outing with them i got around 1 1/2" groups at 100. when i first got the gun and shot them, some groups were around 3". so practice will help.
the very first thing you need to do, is get some stainless washers to place between the barrel and forearm. this will float the forearm somewhat, and keep the forearm from touching the barrel. this will more than likely help grouping considerably. this trick and practice took me from 3" grouping with this gun, to 1 1/2" grouping @100.
if you handload, try h4895 and 120-140gr nosler balistic tips. it will out shoot the factory load.
you might try hornady 7-08 light magnum factory ammo, loaded with 139gr sst's. havn't shot them myself, but they should be worth a try.
good luck, and keep us informed. :music: :money:
