Rear sight for Ruger #3
« on: April 30, 2010, 01:04:43 PM »
I'm looking for thoughts, advice, recommendations on a rear sight for a Ruger #3 rifle.

I was thinking along the lines of a peep sight, ghost ring, or a Marbles Bullseye sight - something that would either fit in the dovetail for the existing sight or else mounted using the pre-drilled scope mount holes.

I don't want to put a scope on it or do a receiver mounted sight.

Thanks!!!

I know you don't want to use a scope, but that's the route I went with my #3 45/70, a simmons shotgun scope 1.5 to 5, With my eyes I had the option of a peep or a scope, which I figgured I would have to go to sooner or later, and it's great at the low power, at first I didn't want to go the scope route either but now I'm glad that I did.................steg

XS makes a peep/ghost sight for the Ruger #3.  I believe it mounts in the existing screew holes.

Mrbumps, thanks for the heads-up on the XS sight. I talked with one of their reps - it mounts on the rear scope ring holes. Getting one is #1 on my august to-do list.

thanks guys!!!
