For a 300 mag, any suggestions for good glass that won't break the bank, scope with at least 12 power??

Depends what your definition of break the bank is.  Nikon Monarch 3-12x42 and 4-16x42 can be had for under $400 if you shop around.  The vortex vipe 4-12x40 is on clearance at swfa for $240.

Might want to look at the new Redfield line.  They are relatively new to the market, under $200 for the 4X12 model.  They are made in the USA by Leupold, with a lifetime warranty.  Burris Fullfields are also good.  They are probably the most inexpensive glass that I would be willing to trust on a 300 mag.

Here are a few worth looking at:

Nitrex TR1s or TR2s, basically same as Weaver Grand Slams or Super Slams.....various discontinued Nitrexs available from Natchez Shooters Supplies.  Have a couple of the TR2s.....really good glass and features...after rebate cost will be around $218 to $280 depending on model.  Have two of the Nitrex TR2s and they have surprised my fellow range shooters with their quality, comparable to brands costing alot more.

Swift Premier 6-18X44 AO model 669M.  Swift makes a decent scope with pretty good glass.  Now have 3 of the 669M, all mounted on centerfire rifles.   Swift's been making midrange priced scopes for quite awhile....never a big name brand/high priced maker like Leopold, Nikon and etc, but you'll be hard pressed to find anything negative about the brand on internet.   So happens the 669M has been discontinued and you can find one for $109 + about $9 shipping at  www.thesportsmonkey.com     Other 669 M type scopes still available that has a different suffix meaning different turret/reticle.  Optics Planet sells the 669M for about $220.   Premier one of their top line of scopes.

Pentax Pioneer 4.5-14x42 at  www.BestBuy.com      Best Buy price is $135 plus shipping.  This pentax scope basically same as the Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14X42., but Burris sells for well over $300.  Pentax has discontinued the Pioneer series.  Might be able to find this Pioneer scope for around $200 elsewhere.

Can't vouch for them being great scopes for a 300 Win Mag.  Chuckle, its around 24Lb recoil a challenge for most scope brands.

The Leupold 4-12 VX1 work just fine and have the Leupold lifetime warranty. I have a couple of them and like them very much.

I've only owned one .300 Win. Mag and it just had too much recoil for me so it stayed at my house a rather short time. It wore a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9. Quite honestly if you can't get the job done with 9X then you aren't going to with 12X either.

Up to 9X I can reasonably get by without a parallax adjust feature but at 10X it becomes basically unusable at higher powers unless I can adjust parallax. On a big game hunting rifle there is no way I want to have to adjust parallax. Get a quality 3-9 and be done with it.

well said. Most scopes over 9x just dont allow good focus out past 300 yards anyway without a paralex ajustment and if you cant hit it with 9x you wont with 12x. I do have a couple 4x12s but there never cranked about 9x for hunting anyway. Only time ive used the higher powers is sitting on a  bench working up loads. Its not needed for that either but it makes it a bit easier to see bullet holes with small calibers.

Ditto from me as well.  10x works just fine on my .300.  As for price...a leupi VX-I or a Weaver Classic V 4x14AO could work...but...I'd go with the leupold.
