Slug Barrels, if rifled, are designed for sabotted slugs.  The Rifled Slugs (known as Foster slugs with rifling already on them) are designed for smooth bore barrels with IC chokes.

It's kind of like this.........Smooth bore barrels uses full-sized, rifled slugs. Rifled barrels use sabots with undersized bullets.  Now, after all that, you can use foster slugs with rifled barrels if you wish (they're made of pure lead and soft) but whether or not you gain any degree of accuracy is up for grabs????  The sabotted bullets used in rifled barrels are generally made of copper or copper jacketed and are undersized to fit into a plastic sabot. What you have with a shotgun/rifled barrel is a 12 or 20 gauge muzzle loader rifle.
