I had my toddler sorting newly acquired 1x brass tonight. Basically picking out the ones with primers for me to check and decap before cleaning. Wife just gave me the stare.

Looking at the post in the link, I would say from the context it means "short barreled rifle."  Just a guess.

  ??  Short barrelled rifles? 16" minimum here, much less and you have a handgun..likely illegal in Canada. I cannot fathom why one would want a rifle with a barrel of less than 16"..even the .22 LR starts losing power below that..say nothing about the centerfires. But hey if you want a rifle with a 10" barrel..your choice. Maybe you can find a Mauser "broomhandle" with stock. ;) ;D
