1883, Leona River near Leakey, Texas.  While acting as sheriff of Uvalde County, ___?___ trailed Jim and Tom Hannehan, suspected of robbing a stage, to their ranch on the Leona River.  At the ranch ___?___ approached them and placed them under arrest.  The brothers moved to resist, but ___?___ shot Tom dead.  Jim then surrendered and gave up the loot.  (It should be noted that after ___?___’s death the next year, Mrs. Hannehan would come to the cemetery in Uvalde on each anniversary of her son’s death and, setting a brush fire atop
___?___’s grave, would “dance with devilish glee” around the mound.)

Could it have been King Fisher?

Dagblasted woman... beat me to the draw.  :-D

Hext,  Sorry about that.  History has always been one of my favorite subjects.

John King Fisher it is.  Can tell that Lady Graybeard has been studying up on either gunfighters or Texans, or maybe both, since they are pretty much one and the same.  Sure glad she checked in.  Was gettin' kinda monotonous, what with ol' Three Hand Hext beatin' everyone to the draw with the right answers.  Do appreciate the participation from one and all.  Next one's gonna be harder.

Hamp,  Yes, I have been studying about the gunfighters and Texans and finding them very interesting.
