Freedom arms load data in a Handi?
« on: August 11, 2010, 01:22:54 PM »
What do you all make of the freedom arms load data, specifically that for the 454 casull.  Is the action significantly stronger than an SB2 handi rifle receiver?  Do they compare with the encore?  I am interested because it is the only load for the 454 that I have found using aa1680.  Could you start lower than their start and work up?

Any thoughts?

Bobby

The SB2 isn't as stout as an Encore, but it's plenty stout for the 270 Winchester at 65kpsi or 52kcup which is the same SAAMI MAP(max average pressure) as the Casull at 65kpsi, and the case head is just .008" larger than the 270 which is factory chambered in the Handi, and being a bottlenecked round, has more bolt thrust than a straight walled case. I have no idea what pressure FA loads operate at tho, do they give any pressure specs? Comparing AA's Casull data, it appears they load it to 54kcup, so it appears hotter than SAAMI specs.
