CIL Model 125 .22 cal
« on: November 08, 2003, 06:42:39 PM »
Hello all

Does anyone have any info on the above .22 rifle? (CIL = Canadian Industries Ltd).  Any info would be appreciated, esp cross over info as I cannot find any sights for this firearm and they are too far gone for me to know how to fabricate (ie. no specs).

It was my late Father's gun and I would like to keep it stock.  If anyone can provide specs on the front sight and ramp for the rear sight I will make my own.

Remember .... Any info!

Thanks all

Chris

Hello again

I did some searching and found out that this gun is from Anschuetz and is similar to the Anschuetz Model 184.

I have emailed Anschuetz and am awaiting a reply, but cannot find a supplier that carries the older models (my Father passed on in '71 so the gun is quite old!).  I found two pics on the net, but the did not show the rear sight that my gun has.  It is a spring site with holes in it and the adjustment is made by sliding the adjuster (it is grooved to fit the contour of the barrell and has a little "nub" on top that fits into the holes of the spring part of the rear sight - slide it up to raise the rear sight).  I searched but did not find a similar set-up on any other gun.

Again, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks[/img]
Chris

I have a 1967 CIL Catalogue that lists Models 67, 125, 180, 190-S and 310.  I'm not sure if the 310 is made by Anschutz but I know the others are.  I owned a Model 67 and still own a 180 and 190.  The 67 and 125 were sporters while the 180 & 190 were target rifles.  The 125 appears to be the same as the 67 but with a clip magazine.  The photos don't show enough detail to tell much about the sights but they look similar to those on a Winchester 94.  I know they are a bit different but I can't remember just what they looked like.  CIL has been out of business for many years but they show up now and then at gun shows in Canada.  I believe similar rifles were sold in the States by Savage.  They were all very accurate.

By any chance have you tried Numrich?  They stock an awful lot of rare and odd stuff.  Try the website - E-Gunparts.com or better yet give them a call and talk to a live person, they might be able to steer you to a source if they don't have have it in stock.
I've found quite a bit of odd items from them myself.
