Can the sb1 357mag handle 200 Grain ammo?
« on: August 13, 2010, 04:23:57 PM »
Can the shotgun receiver handle Cor-Bon Hunter 357 Magnum 200 Grain or Grizzly Ammunition 180 Grain Cast Performance Lead, and is this good weight for hogs and deer? I would not shoot that load very often. I have a Ruger 357 mag revolver, I am thinking of getting a H&R talo 357mag to help share the ammo and hunt with?
Thanks
Dan

Welcome Dan!

I have that same .357 Talo... and I shoot the 180 gr cast performance 95% of the time. That is a great bullet! It is a very accurate bullet in my gun, and it is "2 holer" hunting boolit as well. I have a Ruger GP100 as the sidekick to it, and I use the same bullet...

Since I have reamed my rifle to the max with Tim's reamer... (Very easy to do)  I shoot the same boolit in the max with close to the same accuracy.

I have not used a 200 grain... but I am sure others will chime in soon...

  Welcome Dan.

Welcome to your newest addiction :D

The SB1 reciever will handle the .44 and the .357 max, so I am sure you will be fine.

as long as the ammo you are looking at is loaded to SAAMI pressure specs you should be fine.

I am glad to hear that. I like my 357 mag revolver and getting a carbine to go along with it sounds fun.
thanks.

I had the Tc Contender .357 mag, got the Handi .357. Traded out my TC Mag for a 14" hunter .357  Max, chambered my Handi to .357 max to match. Bought a DW .357 revolver. Now if I could only take the Dan Wesson to max that would be cool, But I wont(dont think I can anyways) Guess I like the .357's however they come. ;)
