I remember reading the post on using " a case full" of really slow burning powder. Stuff you wouldn't ordinarily put in the acp cartridge, and you saying not to worry, it can't hold enough to be dangerous. I am an NRA certifide reloading instructor, teach a class or two every month, and i should cringe at that, but you are right. Now you have gotten me to thinking i don't need a darn 10mm after all; I really love a 230-240 grain bullet at 1200 feet persecond in my 44 mag. if the 1911 will dothat without super high pressure, why on Earth would anyone need anything else?Pressur , and spped of ignition/burn have everything to do with felkt recoili.e. "rap" or recoil impulse. And if I remember right, the other post talked about it being hard to get enough of the slow burning powderin the acp case to cycle the action. This sounds right, too.
I can also imagine the results on flesh and bone. Hollow points are fine for two legged varmints, where SAFETY TO BYSTANDERS IS CONCERNED. A tremendous amount of energy is expended REShaPING the hollow point to a WIDE METPLAT as it passes through flesh, and that is if it works right, and doesn't hit bone. Veral's bullets seem to max out the flesh splattering effect of a bullet, and no energy is wasted PURPOSELY DEFORMING THE BULLET TO A FLAT POINT.
From what i can tell, surgeons have a terrible time extracting bullets anyway, because they all cut a hole Smaller than Diameter. Not so with the LBT design. They make a hole bigger than diameter, provided velocity is high enough. I am very impressed, and will soon be ordering more LBT molds.I need to get rid of the bunch of guns i have, and stick with the 44 mag, .45 acp, and perhaps a .35 whelen for a rifle. I can use cast in all these , no problem.
