Large Chopper
« on: August 26, 2010, 10:05:14 AM »
When total weight will allow (35 +/- ounces), this blade really makes short work of shelter building and site improvement work.  It's 52100 hand forged steel and about 5/16" thick, cutting edge is about 8.5" and the handle is over 5, sealed in frog-skin and cord wrapped. The high grind is slightly convex and the edge is convex, but shaving sharp.  It's a little dirty, but it will make very short work of most chopping tasks.  The kydex sheath is very thick and secures to the the high-center area of my external frame pack making seem to nearly go away until needed.  Hope you like...

Redleg I like the knife did you make it or buy it? I am all about big burly knives! Would like to know more about it to try and get 1 if possible.
There are very few problems that can't be solved with the proper application of High Explosives!

I bought the knife and I will email you the maker's information.  I can only wish I were talented enough to create something like this.
