CZ VZ 24 in 25-06
« on: October 19, 2010, 07:37:28 AM »
;D I just had to pick the rifle up on Saturday and I just had to take it home. It's a custom job, glass bedding, Timney trigger and the only thing i don't like about the rifle a two-tone laminated stock.....That is until I shot it on Sunday. I put a Pentax Gameseeker 3-15x50 on top and what a nice scope. Shooting the Hornady SST I was able to shoot 4 3 shot groups at 3/4 of an inch to 1 1/4 inches at 100 yards and 2 200 yard groups at right at 3 inches. I am 2 for 2 on used rifles and love the way they shoot. The stock ate recoil like my son cleans his plate, :o My next toy is a custom a3-03 in 06. The next round I'll try is the Barnes load.  Jess ;D ;D ;D ;D

Did you mean trying the Barnes bullet in the 25-06 or in the 30-06?  If your 06 still wears the original barrel check to see if the rifling is a right hand or left hand twist.  Some of the 03s wore the left hand twist for the earlier 30-03 round which I believe shot a 220 gn slug as did the earlier Krags.  If she wears the left hand twist she should shoot heavy slugs and heavy loads very, very nicely...............jmtcw.

 >:( I am going to try the Barnes in both of my rifles. I like the interbond and core-lokts,and they shoot very well in my rifles.I also want to try the Winchester powermax as well. It's a right hand twist barrel which is a 2 groove. Jess

I think you have yourself a couple of really nice rifles.  Your 03 should shoot most any range of bullet and make you happy with your loads.  As for the 25-06, do you have beanfields to play in??
