The Upcoming 2010 Season
« on: August 13, 2010, 07:31:01 AM »
It won't be long before our next season is upon us. Any change in what you are going after this season?
I will stay in the water as usual, and it seems we sure have enough of that to go around.

I am going to trap the same critters as last year, mink, possum, coon, fox, coyote.  I acquired another farm to trap down the road from me that has a lot of critters so I will add to my line this year.  Lord, I hope we don't get as much rain as we did last trapping season.  Seemed like every 4th day my traps got flooded out and had to be reset.  We're getting enough rain right now and don't need any more.  Held furs over from last season, put them in the freezer hoping prices would be up this season.  It's not looking good right now.

Got all my supplies, lures and baits, just waiting for the humidity to break so I can dye my traps.

Tom good to see you got back up and running.

Weather mans talking some nicer days so I'm going to do some trap cleaning and dipping next couple weeks. As for out on the line come fall the weather and conditions in the field will dictate how much I can do. When your trap line is run during vaction from work. The wet fields, standing corn and weather overall can really put the screws to how much you get done.

Going to trap a little of everything as i go, not specializing in any  one furbearer.  Plus will sell as season goes on, usually price averages out in the end of   trapping season.  Trapping yotes i get  wolves and hopefully my  catch of lupus is up this year...alot of them around.  Seems like the yotes  are in same areas.  Ive found  fresh yote and wolf scat on same  logging roads  short distance apart..  im looking to catch a black one sometime.. pack north of me originally had huge alpha  black male  with blue eyes (according to aphis trapper who collared him) , so some of his genes are floating around in the various packs of north central  Wi.  Good luck and have a safe one to all you , trappers.

Rats, coon, mink, fox and coyotes in that order this year. I will take the grinners that come as a consequence of running my dry land coon line.
