For you guys who have been watching my post, I have good news. I am back from hunting at Stone Bridge. I killed a chocolate fallow buck with 15 points and 6 in. palms he is 24 1/2 inches wide and 22 inches high and a shot a big choc. doe but anyway here is the story.
We started out at 9:00 and the owner dropped us off on the big hill to the north and we started to walk. We saw a group with lots of small bucks and does so we kept walking for another 30 minutes. We jumped a small Sika buck and kept going. We looked up the hill and there was a group of 4 huge bucks and we got down fast. I set up and there was my buck standing there looking at us. We could tell he was wide but we could not see his palms and then he moved his head and we saw his palms then i know that was the buck I wanted. I set up and got ready for the shot and i shot and.......a miss. I am guessing I shot under him because after the shot i asked my dad how far the shot was it was 163 yards. He ran about 70 yards to the top of the hill and I set up and then he hopped over. I could only see his butt and we came up to the crest of the hill and then and there he was standing in the opening. I set up again and shot. I watched him hunch up and run about 20 yards and then lay down. The guide said stay on him and we got a touch closer then he stood up and I shot him again and he ran about 5 steps and fell over.
We walked up to my buck and we got some pictures and we gutted him and put him on the back of the Ranger. We went back to the the skinning shed, put him in the cooler and talked for a while. Then we went out to kill a doe. We went up behind the owners house and started to walk. We jumped a big herd of about 25-30 deer. My dad walked out and pushed the deer to me and the guide. The guide said shoot the trailing deer so I did. When we walked up to her and the guide looked at me and he said "we will take her as camp meat". She was pretty small. So we went out and set up under a tree in a ravine and my dad pushed again and a big choc. doe came busted out. Shoe stopped and I shot her. She all but dropped in her tracks. We took her back to the cooler and talked to the owner.
All and all it was a awesome hunt. We saw 200+ fallow deer, goats, rams, white-tail, and sika deer. I totally recommend these guys. Tim will most likely be your guide if you go and Bob Weidenhoft is the owner.
