who likes single shots???

i have 3 12 ga pumps,   rem 870, ithaca 37, and high standard 12 ga, 2 doubles, 20 and 12 ga savages, and a savage 410 bolt repeater.
but when i go squirrel or rabbit hunting i reach  for 1 of my single shots.  either a winchester 20 ga 37a , nef 12 ga, or 2 iver johnson 12 ga.............
usually its the 20 ga winchester. i find it easier to carry through the woods and rarely do i nned more than one shot....mack

got pumps SxS, autos, but i take my singles most every time.  lighter handle like a fine english game gun and one shot is about all i get anyway.  the single just hits my fancy.

I started hunting with a Iver Johnson 16 gague with Wards name on it.I worked most of the summer to pay the used price of $17.50 for that old shotgun and it was propbably one of the best buys that I ever made.The old gun harvested alot of game and taught me that it only takes one shot.During the following years I have owned many doubles and repeaters but the old single is still one of my favorites.

of all the guns i own i usually reach for "betsy" very old brazilian made 12 gauge that i got froma guy walking into a pawn shop for 40 bucks won several hams and turkeys at turkey shoots with her oh btw 34 inch extra full choke holds a pretty good pattern

I've had pumps before and they're great but I actually prefer single shots and hunt exclusively with them now.

As a teenager I used to hunt ruffed grouse and cottentails in Wisconsin with a rem 870.
The last few years I switched to a 12 ga single just because it was so light to carry and I took
pride in the fact I usually didn t need more then one shot.  Those were the days !!!

I had a single shot .410 as a kid.  When I hit the teenage years I started carrying  an auto or a pump. Now was I'm getting older I am starting to prefer the single shots.

I started with a JC Higgins .410 bolt action single shot - a Christmas present when I was 9.  Used it for a few years until I bought my first gun - a Savage 311 in 12 gauge when I turned 18.  Later when I lost my small collection of firearms (4 total) to a burglary in 1980, I went out and bought an H&R Topper in 12 gauge.  Though I built up a new collection, it was my go to gun for squirrel, rabbits, dove, and hunting in slug only areas for about 20 years.   I have a Handi-Rifle now and am considering getting a couple of shotgun barrels for it...love the single shot mode of hunting.

Have just acquired my grand pa`s Win. Mod 37 in 16 gauge,probably only fired three or four times! Looks brand new.
I plan to use it as a totin shotgun on my treks through the woods of E.Texas.

I hunt pheasant and shoot clays and the last few times I've gone out, I brought my 870 but it never left the truck. My NEF single shot has a custom stock I made and this is some of the reason I like it better. But I also like the simplicity, the way it swings, and that I have to make one shot count. Going to a single shot hasn't changed how productive I am, I generally hit on the first shot or not at all. Last time I went pheasant hunting I went through 17 shells. My buddies were well into their 3rd box at the end of the day, with no more birds to show for it.

I like to use a Flintlock Brown Bess Officer's Carbine. I have found it to be very versitile in that I can load it down to replicate the loads of a nice little 28 gauge up to a stout 10 gauge.

Being a muzzle loader,  I guess that would count as a single shot.

The single barrel shotgun that I really need is an Iver Johnson 16 ga. with a solid rib barrel.  Both my turkey guns are single shots one in a 10 and the other a 12.  Also love ss rifles.

I have "a few" shotguns. Pumps, singles and doubles, .410, 20 and 12 ga. I don't hunt, mostly just pleasure shoot, but having a small farm I do have "working" guns. I keep my NEF Pardner .410 handy when I'm outside working during the day, for rattlers and such. Late at night, if the chickens are raising a ruckus and the horses sound nervous and my wife (she who must be obeyed) "suggests" I go check things out I go forth with a 38 in my pocket and my 12 ga single in my hand. I can scan for beady predator eyes with my maglight and if necessary grasp the fore end and the maglight at the same time illuminating the target.
Let's see: in singles I have - 1 Ithaca, 1 Springfield, 1 H&R, and 2 NEF's.
