Elk with my 629
« on: August 13, 2010, 04:41:51 PM »
Went to the range this morning and made sure my 629 is still on the money (it is) for the hunt next week. I got drawn for the early cow elk hunt about 15 miles from my house. I have a Smith Performance Center Jerry Mikulek Signature 629 with a factory mounted Burris 2X EER and it shot 2 1/2" groups at 100 yards. I have some 312 grain hardcast bullets my hunting buddy made up for me and they do shoot nice. Have had reports from the rancher that there is a herd of about 50 head in his alfalfa field and I got permission to be there at daylight next Friday. Life is good in Wyoming. Hope all of you guys have a great season. For the life of me I can't understand how any human being can enjoy life and not hunt!
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.

I bet the 312 grain cast load will go in one side and out the other.
