Topper an Handy
« on: November 26, 2010, 02:19:01 PM »
Is there a difference between a topper barrel an a handy barrel? Are they interchangeable?  Am I talking apples an oranges or 2 varieties of apples.

Topper rifles were only made by H&R Inc that went out of business in 1986, Handi (not Handy) rifles have only been made by H&R 1871 starting in late 1986(see FAQs build years), the only modern production Toppers are shotguns. I have a Model 158 Topper 30-30 barrel(pre-86) that I fitted to a modern SB2 frame, some fit, some won't, I had a 1972 30-30 barrel once that wouldn't come close to fitting any of the 30+ modern frames that I had at the time.
