Oregon Trail Bullets 357Mag - Maxi
« on: September 01, 2010, 08:49:13 AM »
I know the LaserCast can be used at 357mag vel in the 357mag with little to no leading of of the Handi barrel.
I use the 158gr RNFP in 357mag.
I just did a ream to Maxi and was wondering at the increased vel, can I expect leading with the LaserCast or would upgrading to there TrueShot gas checked bullet be a better option when the Maxi option is used?
Will in you opinion, either of these pills be a good choice for hunting in the 180gr RNFP?
I want to work up one load and use it for pratice (same point of aim) and in the field on game.
The price

Thanks -g

Load a few and try them. I know the Lead Head Hard cast gc bullets will take the velocity. I have pushed their .411 bullets to 2,700 fps with no leading.

Scratch that, I'm not sure what I was thinking!
I was under the impression that the TrueShot line of Oregon Trail were the same as LaserCast, only with gas checks.
It appears the options in TrueShot are very few and limited!  >:(
I guess I'll need to look for another option. I don't think the regular LaserCast bullet can be used at Maxi vel without leading.
I may just go with Hornady SSP or a Gold Dot and work up a load for the Maxi loads and leave the cast to 357mag loads.
Sorry for the brain fart.
