Cleanup of BC Firing Pin
« on: August 31, 2010, 06:01:59 AM »
I scouted the FAQ's but I still have a major, to me anyhow, question.  My BC's firing pin is acting like there is some garbage in the assembly.  It will be fine, then will bearly move or will fail to set off the primer.  The BIG question, do I have to disassemble the whole action to service the firing pin area?

Yes, the transfer bar(lifter striker) is in the way if you don't, see Perklo's download info in the FAQs, the top frame pin retains the pin.

Thanks for bringing that question up Capt.
I've been working on a new frame, polishing friction points and getting the trigger pull where I like it. I've keep forgetting to check the firing pin whilst I have had it apart and today I remembered after reading your question here. Glad I did too. I found a rather large metal shaving inside the firing pin channel that could have caused a similar situation as what you have had.
FWIW, the frame I'm working on was "Made in Gardner".  HX******
