Still trying!!
« on: August 21, 2010, 03:56:38 PM »
Hey All! I haven't given up yet on my right hand shooting. I really don't want to quit trying, so I'm still given it a go! It has not been easy. The physical challenge is the toughest part, that is why I'm using such a light weight bow at this time, but I still feel it. Anyway, If you're interested, I will continue to let you all know of my progress. I shot these couple arrows this afternoon. Not really the best arrows for in this bow, but they shoot good enough for what I'm trying to accomplish. Thanks! scout4<><

Yes sir, hang in there and keep it up.  Just don't over do it in the course of a day and you will get there.  I would like to know your progress from time to time and if there is anything I can do to help.

Scout4,
Are you doing any other physical exercise to build up your strength and mobility?

Thank You very much for the replies! That little old bow is a wing nighthawk, its a 25 pounder CottonWood. Thanks AllHawks! your support is appreciated! I do physical therapy exercise's and light weight lifting. I may have to do some heavier weights to get it right as I move to more draw weight, but for now what I am doing seems to be okay. Thanks again! scout4<><

Scout4 your doing great, take it in stride.  Back in Nov 2008 I had left shoulder surgery, the doctor told me 2 weeks after the surgery that I would never draw any bow again.  ::)

3 months to the day of surgery, I was shooting my compound at its lowest setting of 58# with 80% let off.

The doctor was wrong, just flat out wrong with his statement.

Yep I'm with Cotton on this.  I didn't have to have surgery (yet) but the doctor told me if I shot my bow a lot I would end up under the knife.  I gave it a few months to heal and started shooting, but decided it would be best to move down in weight so that is why I have my new bow.  After shooting it for a couple of week, man my shoulder feels better than it ever did.  So hang in there and take it slow, the light bow is the way to go for now.  Best of Luck to you!!!!

I'm still at it Fella's! Still workin at my right hand shooting! Only once every several shots can I make a tight in the center "more or less" arrow group. This is not that easy,...not sure what weight to move up to? But I'll figure it out when I get there. Have a great day! scout4<><

Scout4, the best target to use is a playing card or likeness there of.

Keep it up and remember, "Aim Small - Hit Small"

If my memory is correct I read somewhere some time ago that American Native Self-bows had a draw weight of around 25 to 35 lb and they did well enough.
Spirit Hawk may know better. :-\
