Range Report: .357 magnum, .17 HMR, and .444 Marlin
« on: September 04, 2010, 01:26:33 PM »
I finally go a little range time today with a crosswind was blowing from 5 to 10 mph.  I was sighting in my .357, and checking the zero on the .17 and .444 Marlin.

.357 Magnum, 16.25" barrel, CCI Blazers used to sight it in, then go about 2" @ 100.  Hornady 140 grain LeverEvolution 1.5" @ 100.  Federal Premium 140 grain Barnes Expander 1.25" @100.

.17 HMR, 17 grain Hornady VMax, sub-moa groups out to 50 yards then the wind was opening them up to just over an inch @ 100.

.444 Marlin, 265 grain LeverEvolution, as usual it was my best shooter.  Clover leafs @ 100.  This thing just shoots great.

I'll work next time on the .357 forend and regular accurizing tricks to try and tighten-up the grouping.

Nice!  Sounds like a fun outing.  I was supposed to get the .45 Colt and .45-70 out to the range today, but Michigan decided to be a stinker and bring up 30mph winds and cold drizzly day.  Went from 94 yesterday to 54 today.  brrr  Oh, well, guess fall decided it was time.  At least we have an early doe season on the 16th, so I want to get out with the colt and break her in a bit.  ;)
