Fiocchi .223 ammo 5 stars
« on: September 07, 2010, 12:50:15 PM »
I finally got to shoot my SS bull barrel 223 among a few others and I can say with confidence that the 40 grain Vmax ammo is the best factory ammo I have ever shot. The H&R would put 3 in 1/2" and 5 in 7/8". My baseline .223, a tweaked 700 Remington shot a 5 shot group into 5/8". Shooting conditions were horrible. I had a tail to side wind of 25-30 mph. My bench was a Yamaha Grizzly with a piece of plywood on the rack and a single 2x2 held the target. The best part of the Fiocchi is that Cabelas almost always has it on sale. I picked up a bunch for 9.99 for 20, and usually they have the 40 and 50 grain Vmax on sale at the same time, if you don't like the 40 grain bullets. I have never read a bad review of the stuff, and now I can see why. 5 stars.

I really like the Fiocchi. Found a box last year on closeout. My Handi .223 will shoot under an inch WITH ME HOLDING THE RIFLE! That is saying something. I have a box near the back door for coyote varmint medicine. ;)
