NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW
« on: September 17, 2010, 01:37:53 PM »
Alrighty--got me (soon) a Remington Speed-Master 552 in .22 caliber.
Getting (soon) a Leupold VX-II 4-12X40 with AO.
I like the looks of the Lupold Quick Release----that aside what rings, base and all do I need to fit this Speed-Master.
No one seems to know.
Blessings

I'm pretty sure it has that 3/8" dovetail in the receiver so it uses the tip-off rings. My old Remington Nylon and my new CZ had those.
When I got my CZ in May, I bought a pair of the inexpensive rings for about $6 at Academy (Tradition brand maybe), just to see how high I really needed, and because I couldn't wait to shoot it. Then I measured the clearance of the front and rear bells to see how low I could go without touching something important.  Asking around, the consensus was Burris makes the best value in 3/8" dovetail rings, and more choices in height.  Had a couple of cases of bad luck with Millet Angle-locs.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

had a speedmaster years ago, think you will need rimfire rings, unless you use a weaver adaptor, then you could use the leupold quick release. imho the burris signature rings are hard to beat. they have the nylon inserts will not get scope in a bind or put a mark on it.

Don't know if they are still around but google BKL technologies. They make a variety of rimfire rings and bases for 22's. Frank
