70 Series Barrel Bushing

I have Colt 70 Series Govt.  I was wonderning is the pronged bushing would break is there a solid bushing that can be used for a replacement?  I can't find any pronged bushings.

You don't need another pronged bushing, you can use a standard solid bushing.  In fact, it might be a good idea to sway it out before it breaks as they can really lock the system up badly when they break.

+1 on that you might prefer a solid bushing for a number of reasons.  Although I have never seen a broken pronged bushing if it should break, it would be a critical malfunction, requiring it to be replaced before another shot could be fired.

if you change to a solid bushing consider having an oversize bushing fitted to your barrel and slide( by somebody that knows what they are doing). It's one of the best things that you can do to a 1911 to improve accuracy......Mike

I had a colt 1911 goverment that had the pronged bushing and its actually spring loaded so it holds the barrel tighter over the regular bushing.  It felt like it was spring loaded when i tried to assemble it over the barrel. While it held the barrel snug enough for better accuracy it allowed the barrel to swing/hinge down during reloaded and into full battery lockup.

After installing and fitting the IAI national match barrel bushing from CDNN Investments thats the only replacement barrel bushing i will use from now on.  I think its one of the best barrel bushings we can use.  The IAI barrel bushing is over sized on the outside and the inside diameters.  So you need to properly fit it to the slide inside diameter first then fit the inside bore of the bushing to the barrel for the proper alignment so the barrel can swing into full battery and hinge down to load a round with no barrel spring yet it has a full lock up in full battery.  This will greatly improve the accuracy of your 1911 for sure.  When the national match barrel bushing is fitted correctly the 1911 is in its sweet spot for accuracy.
