Arrows for 35# bow
« on: September 14, 2010, 12:54:23 PM »
I have got my string length, and brace height worked out.

If I were to shoot Carbon or, Aluminum arrows what spine arrow am I looking for (example: 2216)? What weight broadhead should I use?
How many total grains should my hunting arrow weight?

Any other advice is welcome.

On arrow weight I'd go with 9 – 11 grains per pound of bow weight.  I prefer 125 grains of broadhead weight.

Well that depends on your draw length and arrow length.  I'm thinking you would likely be happy with either Carbon Express 75 or 90 carbon shafts.  If you want to shoot light heads 85-125gr you will likely want the 75s but if you want heavier heads you will want the 90s.

Google up Easton arrows web site. They have a great chart for their al arrows. Finished arrow length is what the chart needs not draw length.

My draw length is 28". So does a 30" finished arrow length sound about right?

If you are going to put broadheads on then I recommend at minimum 1.5 inches over your draw length.  So 30" should work out perfect for you.

What weight tip do you reccommend for hunting deer with this bow?

Am I correct in thinking with low poundage bows you want a heavier arrow to acheive the kinetic energy needed for hunting?

According to the easton arrow chart for a 34# - 38# recurve bow shooting a 30" arrow, you should be shooting 2018 xx75 or gamegetter 500 arrows with a 125 grain head. Good luck! scout4<><

Scout is right about the 125gr head (Easton 500 and CX 90 are equal arrows). Depending on how fast your bow is you may have to move up to a 145 grain head.

Now for the big question, what state are you hunting?  The reason I ask is some states have a minimum draw weight for bows to hunt deer.  Makes sure you are legal before hitting the woods.

Good deal!  Here in Texas it was 40# until a year ago now they don't list a minimum any longer.
