ACCUTRIGGER ADJUSTMENT
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:01:14 AM »
I just picked up a .243 package gun with the accutrigger.  i was reading in the manual that the trigger is adjustable down to ~3lbs.  but on other models it is adjustable to 1.5lbs and even lower on some.

Is there anything i can do to get mine down a little more?   I dont think i want it measured in ounces, but that 1.5 pounds sounds nice.

I doubt that you can safely get that trigger lower.  And unless its a dedicated varmit or target gun you probably shouldn't.  1.5 pounds is too light for big game hunting, an accident waiting to happen especially when you are exicted or wearing gloves.  The crisp break on the accutrigger makes it one of the best triggers available and 3# should allow you to shoot very accurately.   Try it, I think you'll like it ;D

Oh I like it, this is my second savage with the accutrigger, and it is the only reason i didnt buy a stevens.  I just think i would like it better if it were lighter.  this gun is mainly going to see use as a target/plinking gun, so i dont think accidental discharge will be a major issue.

The force to pull the safety blade back also adds to the pull weight of the trigger.  I took a coil or two off the blade return spring to help lighten it up.  I never looked into making the other adjustment lighter than it will go with the factory springs.  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.
