Thanks all. I'm seeing the owner after work tonight and I'll suggest he send it back to S&W, or at least contact them. I saw the 4" barrel on Numrich...$149 best I remember. He says he's just going to shoot it and see what the accuracy, or lack thereof, is before he does anything. It may be that it will shoot ok, but unless the backboring is really square I have my doubts. Not like it's a crown on the muzzle.
It's a real shame, the action and everything else is great about it, locks up tight, trigger is as good as any I've seen on a Smith...oh well.
It just hit me....wonder if the whole barrel could be sleeved?? Never heard of it done to a pistol.
