Beavers and Northern Lights
« on: September 17, 2010, 06:31:51 AM »
I am a neuscence Beaver trapper.  Got a call yesterday about Beavers causing problems in a slough where DOT is planning to do some work.  Sort of a rush no time to put out traps, so used a rifle.  Went out yesterday and shot 14 Beaver using .22 shorts in my Remington Pump.

Went back last night after the moon came out.  Half moon, but with such a clear night it was bright along with the Norhern Lights.  They were out, bright, and so totally awsome.  At one point they were making a long sweep all the way across the sky from East to West.  Shimmering and waving back and forth.  Bright as well, lite up the entire area.  The hours of lights alone was well worth the trip.

Got two more Beaver, and heard a third.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Reminds me of my best road trip ever! When my son got stationed at Eilson AFB near Fairbanks I helped him make the drive from here in WA state. Beutiful country!! the northern lights are pretty cool too  ;). First part of october, beat the snow by a week and a half. Would love to get back up that way. Maybe a cruise for the wifes and my 30th anniversery in a couple more years. Might stay this time!  ;)   ;D

Sounds awesome.  Living in the south I've never had a chance to experience looking at the Northern Lights, but it's always intrigued me, and the photos are breath taking.  I'll probably be visiting NJ on business in November.  Won't be there long but I'm hoping that's far enough North and that I'm there long enough to see it :D.

Oh well.  Someday :).
