Here's the roadblock to controlling the deficit.

Efforts to tame America's ballooning budget deficit could soon confront a daunting reality: Nearly half of all Americans live in a household in which someone receives government benefits, more than at any time in history.

At the same time, the fraction of American households not paying federal income taxes has also grown—to an estimated 45% in 2010, from 39% five years ago, according to the Tax Policy Center, a nonpartisan research organization.

that reminds me of my neighbors:  their oldest kid is moderately retarded and they get all kinds of aid for that, yet the wife does NOT work and drives around in a fairly new car and parties all the time while the husband works, and they're swingers and use recreational drugs and drink (can't pay for their kids though).  meanwhile I'm a disabled vet and have to live within my means (yes, I DO get a disability check, but it's compensation for war wounds not an entitlement check for being a screw up)

Seems the more we do right, the less return we get in this lifetime Squib.

Regardless of you, or your neighbor's situation, the real roadblock to correcting the deficit is called Congress and what passes for a president these days.

it just makes me sick that people get welfare as a reward for having children they can't afford to feed and clothe, or can't keep as priority one when they're paying for dope and beer (and then have another kid or two).  I'm 30% disabled and the va disability check I get is STILL less than what I put into taxes, I cannot imagine how mad people are who don't come anywhere close to breaking even.  I'd be much better off if I just got exempted from income tax instead of a "disability compensation".  If when I was 20 I'd have broken my neck skateboarding on stairs I'd have got a full-ride welfare check the rest of my life for stupidity BUT as a usmc rifleman that was perforated by an ied I get 30%.  I also get free motrin!    and I get a free 2x kidney transplant if I actually take the 800mg dosage per day they tell me too!
