This is Islam's "justice," "compassion," and "mercy" which apologists will not repudiate, attempting to dodge the issue by assuring the uninformed (and maybe even trying to make themselves believe) that it is not an issue because it is not prescribed in the Qur'an itself. And what was this woman's crime? Here is the back story. "Rare Video Shows Taliban Allegedly Stoning Woman to Death in Pakistan," by Megan Chuchmach for ABC News, September 24:

    A rare video reportedly smuggled out of northwest Pakistan allegedly shows a woman being stoned to death by Taliban militants in the upper region of Orakzai.

    Al Aan, a Dubai-based pan-Arab television channel that focuses on women's issues, said it had obtained cellphone footage that it says shows a woman being executed because she was seen out with a man. The killing reportedly took place two months ago and was smuggled out by a Taliban member who attended the stoning, according to Al Aan. ABC News could not independently confirm the cellphone video's authenticity.

    The video, which seems to show a woman tethered to the ground as a group of men throw stones at her, is so graphic that ABC News cannot show it in its entirety. Parts of it air today on the 25th episode of "Brian Ross Investigates."

    "It's difficult to know where and when it was shot," says Gayle Lemmon, deputy director of the Women and Foreign Policy Program at the Council of Foreign Relations, in an interview with Ross, "It is consistent with videos that have been coming from Taliban-controlled areas since the '90s."

    Lemmon says that when women "stray outside the line" in Taliban-controlled areas, they may "face severe punishment."

    "Women are respected as carriers of the family honor," says Lemmon, "but they also pay the price."...

Gee, what a great system: be "honored" or be killed!

The ABC link has its own video, including a mostly dismal interview with Lemmon, who hedges on whether this has anything to do with Islam.

Apologists like to give the impression that Islam is a sola scriptura  affair, relying entirely on the content of the Qur'an. It makes it easier to sell unbelievers the notion of the Qur'an as uncreated, complete unto itself, and not dependent on the cultural and temporal context in which it was purportedly revealed to Muhammad.

But that is not the case, and in that regard, the "experts" in the story below are being incredibly disingenuous. There is a Qur'an-only movement within Islam, but it is an extreme minority view at variance with the views of the major sects.

Indeed, Islamic ritual and conduct depend intensely on the details provided by ahadith in Sunni as well as Shi'ite Islam, and while the collections differ in organization and emphasis (with the Shi'ite texts in general naturally affording greater importance to the imam Ali), they converge a great deal in letter and spirit.

Sunni hadith texts, including Sahih ("reliable") Bukhari, record Muhammad and his companions as being directly involved in stonings of men and women, and Muhammad is, of course, a "beautiful pattern of conduct" for believers, per Qur'an 33:21.

Better yet, the Bukhari collection posits that -- whoops -- the verses on stoning are curiously missing from the Qur'an:

    'Umar said, "I am afraid that after a long time has passed, people may say, "We do not find the Verses of the Rajam (stoning to death) in the Holy Book," and consequently they may go astray by leaving an obligation that Allah has revealed. Lo! I confirm that the penalty of Rajam be inflicted on him who commits illegal sexual intercourse, if he is already married and the crime is proved by witnesses or pregnancy or confession." Sufyan added, "I have memorized this narration in this way." 'Umar added, "Surely Allah's Apostle carried out the penalty of Rajam, and so did we after him" (Sahih Bukhari 8.82.816).

Clearly, this tradition has survived on the Shi'ite side as well, and runs much deeper than apologists would have one believe.

After seeing clips of people jumping from the trade center, women being executed in soccer stadiums, and reporters having their heads sawn off with butcher knives, no thanks I'll pass on this. It flat out amazes me however, that so many are in denial of what islam is and what they are, with so much info out there. Our government is privy to more intell than we will ever see/know, yet they play along with the charade, and pass hate crimes to help protect these............um,people. I wonder if there will be enough to defend this nation when the time for defense comes? If sharia law becomes commonplace here, and I feel it will, will punishment between muslim and other religions take on an Old Testement way for all? If muslim sentances Christian will it be sharia punishment? If Christian sentances muslim will sharia results only be "fair"?

What gets me are the socialists and one-worlders who claim that allowing a minute for prayer in school is exactly the same as that.

I couldn't see anything except a bunch of monkeys in burkas but, this is why we have our 2nd Amendment so that we can prevent just such a thing here. 

To me this equates throwing household pets into dog fighting rings so the fighting dogs can get practice killing and that now brings a idea: let's have our dog fighting rings but don't put dogs into them - give a couple of dogs a small piggy to kill and then toss in a bunch of muslims right on top of the dead pig.  The dogs get fed and mohammed loses a few more followers...............it's a win-win situation all the way around.
